Of all of the friends I have there are few that rank any higher than Buddy, my dog. When I named him, little did I know how well his name would describe him. This morning as I left to go to the barn, like every other morning, he was at the door waiting to go. I am convinced that is not the destination of our travel, whether it be the barn, office, to town or else where that he likes, but that He just likes to be with me. Granted that, wanting to be with me, might not make him the brightest dog on the block, but it sure makes me feel good. Even though my life is not that exciting, he is more than content, just to sit and watch and wait. As I looked at him this morning, I couldn’t help but pray, “Lord, make me more like Buddy, in my relationship with you.” Bro. Jim ________________________________________________________ February's Ramblings...
I guess most all of us have our routines and sure enough I have mine. Early morning is where my routines are most consistent. I have never set an alarm, yet most every morning I rise early. I really don't know if I am motivated from the thoughts of the day, but like a kid on Christmas morning I am up. There just seems to be something I love about the quite darkness of early morning. There are not many interruptions, not as many voices, and not as many people distracting me from my Jesus.
Once up I always seem to find my way to the kitchen (Imagine that). There I make a cup of coffee (decaf, getting older comes at a price) and make my favorite peanut butter and honey on toast. Now I have tried toast with just peanut butter and toast with peanut butter and jelly, but for me it must be toast with peanut butter and honey.
As good as the toast is, what comes next is even better, it is reading of the Word. His wonderful Word giving me light in the midst of darkness, sometimes shouting in the midst of silence and always giving me more courage to face the day.
Of all my routines I like the morning routine best.
Well I hate to run but I hear what's next in my routine calling.
“In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Ps. 5:3
“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey.” Ps 119:103
God Bless,
Jim
